Lord, You never let go of me

As I sit here listen to worship music, I am resting in His goodness. We have had a prayer answered, and although I am exhausted, I rejoice in His presence, in His glory. I am in awe of how many times God will continue to provide. He is the everlasting father, the ultimate provider. Most of the time we fail to remember this until we are desperate for Him. I am striving to change that in myself. I wish to praise Him while I’m broken, while I’m healing and in my joy. I aim to worship You even through the pain and the waiting. I want to praise Your name even if I have no answers.

Psalm 55
1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God, and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!

2 Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan,
3 because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they drop trouble upon me, and in anger they bear a grudge against me.
4 My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me.
6 And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest;
7 yes, I would wander far away; I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter from the raging wind and tempest.”
9 Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues; for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go around it on its walls, and iniquity and trouble are within it;
11 ruin is in its midst; oppression and fraud do not depart from its marketplace.
12 For it is not an enemy who taunts me– then I could bear it; it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me– then I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man, my equal, my companion, my familiar friend.
14 We used to take sweet counsel together; within God’s house we walked in the throng.
15 Let death steal over them; let them go down to Sheol alive; for evil is in
their dwelling place and in their heart.

16 But I call to God, and the LORD will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.

18 He redeems my soul in safety from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.

19 God will give ear and humble them, he who is enthroned from of old, Selah
because they do not change and do not fear God.

20 My companion stretched out his hand against his friends; he violated his covenant.
21 His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were
softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

22 Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never
permit the righteous to be moved.

23 But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.

“My Beautiful Mother” By Duckey

So my kids have all been working hard at school to make me something for Mother’s Day. Duckey is the first to bring something home. She gave me a bouquet of paper flowers and a questionnaire. I found it so amusing, I just can’t keep it to myself.

“My Beautiful Mother” by Duckey, age 4
1. My Mom’s name is “Maria.”
2. I think she is “20″ years old.
3. Her favorite color is “green.”
4. Her favorite food is “mac n cheese.”
(Not sure where she got this from, it is actually mexican food.)
5. Her favorite thing to do is “Work.” (OMG, I really must be working too much.)
6. She looks really beautiful when she wears “green.”
7. I make her happy when I “clean up.” (Yes, any mom can agree with that.)
8. While I am at school all day she “works in brother’s class.” (Only a handful of times, so funny that she remembers.)
9. Her favorite TV Program is “Max N Ruby.” (ummm)
10. If we could spend a special day together I wish we would “watch TV.”
11. She is the best Mommy in the world because “she makes the best food.”
(Not to sure about that, but I’ll take it.)
12. My mom makes the best “hot dogs!”

She even drew a picture of me!

I hope all you Mommy’s out there are getting to enjoy this time with your little ones, big ones, and yes even your grown up ones. Don’t forget to send something to your Mom and let her know what she means to you. What are some of the things your kids have done that are memorable to you?

Taco Taco

Last night we tried a new taco recipe. I made 18 small tacos and between the three kids, they were all eaten up. They were such a success, I wanted to share it with you.

Bean Tacos
Prep time 5 min
Cook time 10 min

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (Or turkey/chicken)
1 small diced onion
1 small can diced green chilies
1 pack of Taco Seasoning
1 (8 oz) can of tomato sauce
1 (16 oz) can of refried beans
Cheese of your choice (I used a mexican blend)
18-20 Small authentic taco shells

In a large skillet, brown you meat with onion. Drain off excess liquid. Add to pan: chilies, refried beans, tomato sauce and taco seasoning. Mix thoroughly and cook for a few minutes until it is almost runny. Scoop desired amount into each taco shell. Immediately add cheese to tacos. The heat from the bean/meat filling will melt the cheese. Serve.

This particular recipe made enough filling for 18 small tacos and I still had a 1/2 cup of filling left over. Please let me know if you try it and how your family enjoyed it.
